Cliniface undertakes the visualisation, measurement, analysis, identification, and reporting of phenotypic traits from 3D facial images. These traits, known as Human Phenotype Ontology terms (or HPO terms), can then be used in concert with other phenotypic traits about a subject (e.g., behavoural or cognitive traits) to assist in diagnosing rare and genetic diseases.
Cliniface works by fitting facial landmarks to the 3D model of a face and then taking spatial measurements using the landmarks to demarcate regions of interest. The extracted measurements are then compared to existing statistics from the research literature describing how these measurements are expected to change with age for different demographic cohorts. If measurements are found to fall outside of the expected range, this may indicate the presence of certain facial traits of clinical significance.
Cliniface accepts 3D files in a variety of standard formats, and its analysis is saved into the 3DF file format which embeds metadata and analytic results as structured plain text alongside the original model data saved in Wavefront OBJ format. Analysis data can also be exported in XML and JSON formats to allow users to undertake further analysis outside of Cliniface.

Mayo is an open-source application for visualizing and converting 3D CAD and mesh files. Mayo supports clip planes, exploding of assemblies, measurement of shapes, show/hide parts, ... It can read/write 3D files from/to STEP, IGES, DXF, STL and many other formats.
OpenSCAD is a software for creating solid 3D CAD models. Unlike most free software for creating 3D models (such as Blender) it does not focus on the artistic aspects of 3D modelling but instead on the CAD aspects. Thus it might be the application you are looking for when you are planning to create 3D models of machine parts but pretty sure is not what you are looking for when you are more interested in creating computer-animated movies.
OpenSCAD is not an interactive modeller. Instead it is something like a 3D-compiler that reads in a script file that describes the object and renders the 3D model from this script file. This gives you (the designer) full control over the modelling process and enables you to easily change any step in the modelling process or make designs that are defined by configurable parameters.
OpenSCAD provides two main modelling techniques: First there is constructive solid geometry (aka CSG) and second there is extrusion of 2D outlines. As data exchange format for this 2D outlines Autocad DXF files are used. In addition to 2D paths for extrusion it is also possible to read design parameters from DXF files. Besides DXF files OpenSCAD can read and create 3D models in the STL and OFF file formats.

lux is a viewer for 'ordinary' images, panoramas and panorama specifications in PTO format, made by, e.g., hugin. The view can be zoomed, panned, rotated, made brighter/darker etc. It supports a wide range of image formats, like JPG, PNG, TIFF and openEXR - image I/O is done with libvigraimpex.
lux supports 'flat' and rectilinear images and several panoramic projections: spherical, cylindrical, stereographic, and fisheye, both for the source image and the view. For images made with a camera or smartphone which have appropriate metadata, lux will show a perspective-corrected view.
lux can also stitch panoramas, and fuse or HDR-merge exposure brackets specified in a PTO file made with, e.g., hugin. It can not do image registration. Many PTO features are supported, including panoramas with stacks. lux provides it's own implementation of the Burt&Adelson image splining algorithm for seamless stitching and exposure fusion, working directly from the source image set with no intermediate images.
What's seen on-screen can be exported as a 'snapshot'. lux is also good for slide shows, especially when the image set is a mixed bunch, containing normal images and panoramas. Panoramas are recognized by their metadata, so they are displayed correctly, and the user does not have to switch between using an image and a panorama viewer.
lux is extremely configurable, especially when used from the command line. It provides it's own type of script file, which is similar to ini files, with simple key=value syntax. You can find a listing of the options via the 'help' link.
RasterView is a CUPS, PWG, and Apple raster file viewing application.
It basically allows you to visually evaluate raster data produced by any of the standard CUPS RIP filters (cgpdftoraster, imagetoraster, pdftoraster and pstoraster). It is normally used to either test those filters or look at the data that is being sent to your raster printer driver.
RasterView is provided as free software under version 2 of the GNU General Public license.
